Go Forward ... Always Forward

I watched a news feature that highlighted a 31-year-old man who had made choices as a teenager that collided with the law. After release from prison, he rigged documents and enrolled in high school, posing as a 17-year-old. The scam was discovered just before he reached the goal of graduating with honors and earning a college scholarship. Again, his poor choices caused him to face the dismal prospects of finishing high school after he got out of prison.

His story was fascinating. This man isn’t the only person who has considered pushing the rewind button on the tape deck of life to record over a few of the goof-ups. There are at least two of us. Most people don’t go to such lengths to discover that life doesn’t have a rewind button.

Life is about going forward today, even when the decisions of yesterday were not all they might have been. Life is about learning to step forward today from an angle of honesty and never back. Mistakes must be corrected in the now, not in the past.

God created each of us to make a unique and positive difference in the world. Each individual must discover what his special gifts are and how to share them.

Today is a great day for making good choices. Today can be a day for getting on one’s knees and asking for help. Today is a day for believing in yourself . . . a day for having faith in God . . . because God has faith in His children.
